BIOGRAPHY

The band was started mid-2005 before summer, but it wasn't apparent at the time that the song being written then would become what the band is today. There were no songtitles and no band name, but the first song (The Task) sounded incredibly epic and motivated me to write some more. The inspiration to write the lyrics and ultimately name the band came a couple months later. The idea for the album concept came during a crazy dream. Some details were changed a bit, but the content of the dream and the locations remained the same.

After the demo was finished, pieces of it were showcased on MySpace, and a few copies made their way to various corners of the world. I already had plans to record a better version during this time, and spent the big bucks to pick up a real acoustic, a new electric, a studio microphone, and a keyboard... All of the new instruments and equipment were used on the album version of Shrouded Destiny which was set for re-release on May 28th, 2007. It's true that the album was recorded direct-input as I was just starting out and didn't really know a lot about equipment, and to be honest, all of that stuff is very expensive.

The second album, The Ivory Chapel, has been written, and recorded. The drums have been programmed using the powerful "Drumkit From Hell 2" package. The drums will sound as good as they possibly can while still being programmed. New gear was also acquired specifically for these recordings, including but not limited to a Peavey 6505+ head, B-52 AT-412a cab, two Shure SM57s, a PG48, and Alesis io|26 interface. The sound of The Ivory Chapel is now leagues beyond what could have been expected, and it should sound even better when finished!

To prepare for this massive undertaking, a "test recording" was created. This test, which was the first song recorded using the new equipment, was Holy Light, and it actually came out incredibly well! It came out so well that, in fact, it was added to the tracklist for the upcoming The Ivory Chapel. It replaced the piano instrumental "The Return".

Currently, I've got no idea when you guys will hear the new album. It will most-likely be mixed and mastered professionally at a studio. I don't even know the details of this yet, but the search goes on. Keep an eye out for Rainwound in 2008!
